Retreat includes (modest) private room, all meals, and opportunities for rest, relaxation, discussions with other women, massage, reiki, art activities, prayer, yoga, quiet reflection, and walking the grounds. All activities are optional.
You qualify to attend the retreat if you
- have received a cancer diagnosis and are undergoing treatment or have recently completed treatment
- are physically able to move between rooms and down hallways to meeting places
If you have any questions or doubts about your capacity to attend this weekend, please consult your physician.
Note that single parents, women raising children and women with low incomes will be given priority.
Suggested cost is $15.00 donation. Some help with transportation may be available.

It was wonderful to see so many of our friends at our annual spaghetti dinner fund raiser on Sat. Nov. 7 at Sacred Heart Academy in Buffalo. Women who have attended our programs came to eat and to volunteer. Donors who have contributed financially, and folks who just were looking for a delicious affordable dinner joined us. The spaghetti was great, the basket (over 50 of them!) raffle made winners happy and the good will and companionship of our guests help us to live the mission of the Respite Program: Coming together we build community. To support our respite programs, we have watercolor cards available for a donation. The watercolors are from original paintings by S. Diane Gianadda, director of the Women’s Respite Programs. Each set (4″x5.5″) includes 6 different watercolors. A suggested donation is $10 per package or 3 for $25 postage is free. To order please make request via our e mail address: email@example.com. Include your name and address and we will mail the cards to you. Checks may be made out to the Women’s Respite Program.

The Women’s Respite Program for Single Mothers will take place from Thursday, July 30 through Saturday, August 1, 2015. We are accepting applications until July 15. To be considered for this one-time program, you must be a single woman, over the age of 25, raising your children on a low income.
You will have a relaxing time at the Center of Renewal near Lewiston, NY. Depending on your address, we may be able to help with transportation.
To be considered for the program, you must fill out an application form and a confidential health form, plus you need a referral form from a professional in a field such as social work, health care, or social services. The forms and a flyer are all available in the links above.

If you are a grandmother who is raising her grandchildren and you consider yourself to have a low income, you are welcome to apply for the next weekend Respite Program taking place at the Center of Renewal on the campus of Stella Niagara, near Lewiston, NY.
The application deadline is May 21, 2015. Your application must include the 2-page form that you fill out along with a confidential health form. You must get a referral from a professional in social work, human services, or healthcare or a member of the clergy. After May 21, we will mail a letter to all applicants informing them whether or not they’ve been accepted. Those who are accepted are asked to make a $15 donation to the program.

The all-female “Ladies First Jazz Big Band” will play this Saturday, March 14 at the Tralf. Partial proceeds to the Zonta Club of Buffalo who in turn are extremely supportive of the Women’s Respite Program. Over the years, Buffalo Zontians have given of their time and talents to our Programs, and the Zonta Club has made financial contributions as well. We think of them as a partner.
